Nos lecteurs assidus ont croisé de nombreuses fois déjà Carina Round dans nos pages, jeune artiste Anglaise, dont nous louons les talents, à grand renfort de qualificatifs, pour sa carrière personnelle comme pour ses participations à d’autres projets ou groupes, auxquels elle apporte, non sans une féminité toute en finesse, un vent de folie qu’elle seule sembler savoir animer, et qui transforme tout ce qu’elle touche en un mélange harmonieux de sensibilité et d’énergie pop.

Le dernier en date de ses albums, Tigermending, participe de ce rayonnement, notamment grâce à des titres comme le génial « Pick of the phone », ou le fameux « Girl and the ghost », titre entêtant et virevoltant, déjà remixé par les non moins tortueux Puscifer, vous aurez reconnu l’un des groupes de James Keenan Maynard, leader indétrônable de Tool, meneur d’A Perfect Circle, qui semble s’amuser, depuis quelques années avec des albums plus provocants les uns que les autres, dont le sublime Conditions of my parole se détache, pourtant.

Album du mois dans Soundlyfe à sa sortie, cet opus livre en effet un rock éthéré, habité par un esprit très particulier qui lui donne toute son étrangeté et livre tout son onirisme à la fois. Carina Round, qui fait partie de cette aventure à l’apparence burlesque, n’est pas étrangère à cette poésie sonore et l’on attend avec d’autant plus d’impatience le nouveau Puscifer annoncé pour bientôt. Un prêté pour un rendu, le mix de Puscifer sur « Girl and the ghost » se révéla assez sombre d’intimité et puissamment rock, Puscifer lui apportant une profondeur très différente de l’esprit original insufflé par Carina Round.
Cette fois-ci, c’est avec Girl and the ghost Lord and Master mixes que la diva pop nous revient, single de deux titres : l’un, version radio, l’autre en version longue (près de 8 minutes 30), à l’occasion duquel le single d’origine, transformé en véritable cavalcade dance, flirtant ça et là avec l’électro et la techno, révèle étonnamment toute la puissance rock de la voix de Carina, sur laquelle le fond répétitif invite à se concentrer et qui l’inscrit dans une sorte de danse hypnotique, à laquelle il fait bon se laisser prendre.
Gageons que les amateurs de bons mixes sauront programmer rapidement sur les platines européennes cette excellente initiative.
Parallèlement, Carina sort donc Tigermixes, l’album de remixes, où l’on retrouve Puscifer, LCD soundsystem, mais aussi Curt Smith des Tears For fears (son côté prog ?) et des talents de la scène underground Anglaise mais pas seulement (Billy Corgan des Smashing Pumpkins …). Voilà une vraie bonne nouvelle de rentrée et un album à se mettre très vite sous la dent. Pour le reste, on attend impatiemment de nouvelles chansons de Carina, lorsque l’actualité avec Puscifer le lui permettra, sans doute, et on espère rapidement la voir enflammer nos scènes hexagonales, comme elle le fit lors de son dernier passage à Paris.

Album of the month in Soundlyfe at its release, this opus indeed delivers an ethereal rock, inhabited by a very particular spirit which gives it all its strangeness and delivers all its onirism at the same time. Carina Round, who is a member of this adventure in the comic appearance, is not foreign to this sound poetry and we wait with all the more impatience for new Puscifer announced for soon. One good turn deserves another, the mix of Puscifer on » Girl and the ghost » showed itself rather dark of intimacy and powerfully rock, Puscifer bringing it a depth very different from the original spirit breathed by Carina Round.

Here is the real good news of this comeback and the album to put very fast under your tooth. For the rest, we wait impatiently for new songs of Carina, when the current event with Puscifer will allow her, doubtless, and we quickly hope to see her firing our national stages, as she made during her last passage in Paris.
